you have a home here

I tend to write most of my music with the intent to capture a single fragment of an emotion or experience that I can both understand myself as well as have some idea that others may relate to. “you have a home here” was written in very comfortable solidarity between many moments alone at a vibraphone and began as a means to express and understand kindness in its simplest form. The kind of kindness that isn’t loud or obvious but is inherently important to what makes us feel meaningful or loved. This piece was created with the image of rain in mind and the people who I would invite to stay in the warmth of our home instead of enduring the rainy day. My hope is for these feelings to be relatable to anyone who has a home in others and extends theirs without question.
