for Solo Piano and Electronics
Written as a part of the first “Capriccio” concert run by Andrew Hosler at the University of Michigan. The project involved pairings of composers with performers collaborating to create a work in less than 2 days. I was luckily paired with two wonderful pianists Ceren Su Sahin and Forrest Howell who each premiered this solo piano work with electronics written in under 24 hours.
I was very inspired by the nature of brevity in the project and wanted to translate that into thematic material. I ended up writing a simple piece about new shells washing up on a beach’s shoreline. Soon to be washed away but nevertheless continuously beautiful. Although very simple this is now one of my favorite pieces to sit down and play at home in my spare time.
